Growing up on the shores of Lake Superior in Northern Michigan, the natural surroundings of my youth instilled a connection with water, natural wonders and wide-open spaces with and without human influence - an appreciation that strengthens as I age.
Living in the city of Chicago away from the open spaces of my youth, I rely on the dominant natural surroundings of the Lake Michigan shore, city parks and travel to reconnect with nature. My photography reflects natural vistas and close up details, focusing on imagery that glorifies nature’s splendor on its own, or along with the influence of human encroachment, capturing a perspective that is uncommon, overlooked or often taken for granted. Freezing these visual moments allows me to provide my audience with a wake up call to the beauty that’s right in front of them.
